The best way to experience all aspects of what this area of the United States has to offer is, of course, from behind the wheel of your trusted convertible. Now that fall is upon us, the northeast has begun to show the range of colors and climates that make it one of the best regions in the nation for enjoying long scenic drives. So, we’ve put together some of our favorite convertible drives for enjoying the northeast USA.

The Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway stretches from Virginia to North Carolina, almost reaching the Tennessee border. This scenic drive extends 467 miles and will take you through Pisgah and Jefferson National Forest, as well as through some of the best foliage the Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer. Swing by the Blue Ridge Music Center in Galax, Virginia and Mount Pisgah in Canton, North Carolina along the way to soak up the culture and views this area has to offer.

Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Byway

The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Byway, dubbed “The Grand Ole Ditch,” stretches through Maryland up to the border of Pennsylvania. Throughout the 226-mile stretch are plenty of hiking trails with scenic views, historic museums, restaurants and hotels. The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Byway has several of small towns along the way with plenty of places to stay and things to do. This scenic drive is perfect for those who enjoy outdoor activities and cozy bed & breakfast living.

White Mountain Trail

White Mountain Trail winds through New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest from Conway to Lincoln and covers some beautifully rugged terrain. White Mountain National Forest is the home of Mount Washington, the highest point in the northeastern United States. This region is well known for fantastic skiing and its bright fall foliage. Although this byway is only 100 miles, it boasts some of the most scenic views in the country.

Old Canada Road Scenic Byway

The Old Canada Road Scenic Byway stretches 77 miles from just south of Solon, Maine all the way to the Canadian border. During the warm months, this route boasts relaxing swimming holes, hiking trails and plenty of outdoor activities. During the winter months, the activities shift to some of the best snow skiing and snowboarding on the east coast. Route 201, as it’s called, still enjoys long stretches of mountain ranges, lush greenery and undeveloped scenery.

There are hundreds of interesting drives to enjoy throughout the northeastern United States. These are just a few of the scenic drives we find exceptional for convertible owners and it’s the perfect time of year to enjoy the foliage and history this region of America has to offer.
